Ministry

Modern Day Circuit Rider — Between the Bible and the Blues

Modeled upon the historic circuit rider template of Methodist antiquity, Walter Jr's mobile ministry primarily consists of Sacred Concerts — commemorations on Holy Scripture and sacred text readings, preaching, teaching and prayers of contemplation and praise, integrated within the context of original songs and personal witness. This broad range of elements calls upon his talents as a musician, graphic designer, preacher, teacher and worship leader. By invitation, request, then pastoral assignment, these events are custom designed to enhance the spiritual vitality of faith communities.

While these presentations are often in the place of regular Sunday worship, we also ecumenically offer them at times decidedly separate from the regular services (Wednesday night or Sunday evening) — as an opportunity to open the doors and windows of the Church for the greater community to experience and engage these Spirit-led rites.

"Occasionally, God gifts an individual to lead us in returning to our spiritual center... Walter Jr. is one such person." — Rev. Ed Boyd, Acadiana District Superintendent, retired, United Methodist Church

Walter performs and speaks to varied audiences including retreats or workshops, conferences and church leadership. He brings a combination of song, humor, relatability, and depth to every event.

Walter Jr.'s ministry is aimed at reawakening our faith to face what the world throws at us with hope and grace.

As a certified lay minister for the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church in Lafayette, Walter is an extremely well trained and gifted singer, songwriter, worship leader, and preacher. Congregations throughout the South have found that Walter Jr's unique, and sometimes funky, insight into the movement of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer, and the life of the church, is a wonderful gift at just the right time. He blends word, song, and prayer into an experience that leaves room for the Holy Spirit to move and witness to God’s purposes for our lives.

Walter Jr. has the gift to fill the space and play for a crowd of thousands or a one-room back bayou chapel or the ability to lead workshops, retreats, classes for small groups — and make deep personal connections with the people gathered. If you have an upcoming special event that you're wanting to take to the next level, Walter Jr. could be the answer. Contact us here to book Walter Jr. for your upcoming ceremonial.
